New for 2020 is The Pako Festa Human Library presented by the City of Greater Geelong, will provide the community an opportunity to engage with a ‘Living Book’, reduce prejudices and increase cultural understanding. The Human Library enables the young people in this project to break stereotypes by challenging the most common misconceptions about themselves, their cultures and refugees in a positive and fun manner.

MacKillop Family Services is proud to support the Pako Festa and welcomes the opportunity to celebrate the diverse cultures of all children in our care. We look after more than 100 children in the Geelong area and our experience of therapeutic care has helped us develop an Activation Area which will give families respite from the hectic activities of the festival through nature based play tables and a relaxing multi-sensory play space.

Staff from our foster care team will be there to chat about foster carer in the Barwon region where there are currently more than 400 children in care and an urgent need for more foster carers. Come and join us to chill in our multi-sensory relaxing space and find out more about our therapeutic services and cultural safety within care.
