PAKO FESTA ON SCREEN

Ever wanted to see your face on the big screen? At Pako Festa you can!

This year’s 30th Birthday Celebrations include a giant screen and roving Cultural Connectors, connecting you, your family and friends with the festival.

Look out for the Cultural Connectors wearing the festival bright yellow t-shirts and red cowboy hats with ipads in hand! The will take your photo which will then be broadcast on the big screen down near Pakington Strand. They’ll be keeping everyone up to date via twitter and facebook, and also be collecting information from festival goers to help shape the event of the future.

The Evologic giant screen will also be a moving exhibition of photo’s from all 30 Pako Festa events including the ‘Be A Star Project’ of 2011. You might even spot a photo of yourself or one of your relatives dancing on stage in the 80’s.
Follow @diversitatgee for all of your Pako Festa updates and highlights throughout the day. Don’t forget to hash tag your tweets with #Pakofesta

How it works...The iPad snaps a photo with its camera, and straight away sends it up to the 'cloud'.

Codeacious have set up a computer with customised software to continuously look for new photos and automatically show them on the big screen throughout the day, along with any tweets that have the hash tag '#pakofesta'.

Festival Director Luisa La Fornara said “Next year we'd love to expand the idea by getting anyone at Pako Festa to submit their own photo to the big screen using their own devices!”

Codeacious was set up in 2011 to serve the growing need for software solutions that run in your web browser or on your mobile phone.

Developer Glenn Schmidt and designer Ian Priddle, both from Geelong, founded the company with the goal of doing things better.

"These days we all use the web constantly to get things done. But a huge percentage of these sites are badly designed - awful to use for the customer, and unreliable behind the scenes, too. We want to tackle both things; to make a difference by building really high-quality stuff." says Glenn.

"We want to help local businesses get online, and take advantage of the mobile revolution. We're also working on some sweet products that we can't wait to release."

Codeacious is proud to be running Pako Festa on Screen at Pako Festa on Saturday 25th February near Pakington Strand.

Pako Festa prides itself as being a free event; it is also “access friendly” allowing people of all abilities to share the enriching experience of multiculturalism. All you need to enjoy Pako Festa is a happy heart and an open mind.
