David Jones – Roberts plays Xavier Austin
Born in Bondi on April 9 1990, David moved to Bryon Bay where he lived for eight years whilst his parents started The Australian Theatre Company. His Dad is Danny Roberts, an actor who starred in Sons and Daughters for four years.

“I was always around performers and actors whilst I was growing up, so something must have rubbed off” jokes David. David moved back to Sydney in his early teens and in Year 7 got into Newtown High school of Performing Arts. In 2007, David did a TV pilot and television commercial and starred in a short film with his father.

David’s character Xavier moves to Summer Bay after visiting for schoolies. David says “when we first met Xavier we think he is a bit of a ratbag, but when we get to know him and his family we discover his mucking about has been his release and escape from his family responsibilities;” “Xavier is a great character to play and I’m excited to be working on Home and Away, the cast and crew have all been really welcoming.”

Luke Mitchell plays Romeo Smith
Originally from the Gold Coast, Luke Mitchell (born April 17, 1985) is still finding his way around Sydney, after moving here in June 09, but his character Romeo has no trouble making himself right at home in Summer Bay. Luke says, “Romeo is such a unique character, he’s kind of a love him or hate him type of personality. He’s so self confident and can get away with being cheeky, he has so much fun and loves life, but there is also depth to him and he has an interesting past to say the least.”

Although Luke did not do any drama at school and hated the compulsory classes, once he started acting lessons, he found himself in a scary but new world. Luke continued classes in 07/08 and a week after landing in Sydney, he got the role of Romeo. On feeling at home on set, Luke singles out Ray (Alf) as “such a gentleman, he has, as well as everyone else, gone out of his way to make me feel welcome – and he’s a television icon.”

Lynne McGranger plays Irene Roberts
Before concentrating on her acting career, Lynne was a primary school teacher. She graduated from the Riverina College of Advanced Education in 1975. Lynne was always interested in performing. She grew up learning ballet and modern dance. Then in 1982 and 1983, she rekindled her interest by studying acting, voice, dance, mime and gymnastics with Penrith's Q Theatre. After a string of theatre productions, short film projects and television work – Lynne joined the cast of Home and Away in 1992 as a guest, and became a permanent cast member in August 1993.

Over the years, Lynne's character Irene Roberts has managed to control her alcoholism, made peace with her children Fin and Damian, who were fostered out when she could not care for them, and become an integral part of the Summer Bay community. She is still a bit of a rough diamond but her heart is definitely in the right place. She has taken in many kids over the years: Selina, Chloe, Joey, Hayley, Will, Nick, Tasha, Belle, Annie and Geoff and has been re-united with her wayward son Nathan.

Rebecca Breeds plays Ruby Buckton

On her character Rebecca says, “Ruby has gone through a lot and had to gain a level of independence I really admire. She is free-spirited and sure of whom she is. I love playing Ruby; she is cheeky and easy-going, but very passionate about her family.”Rebecca describes herself as similar to Ruby in her love of nature, the bush and the beauty of the Australian landscape.
